About the Author

He’s had Parkinson’s since February 18, 1988 and he’s still healthy!

Leif´s credo is “I have Parkinson’s, but Parkinson’s does not have me”! He thinks about his credo every day in order to keep the right attitude towards his situation. It has been a great help many, many times when the feelings of hopelessness are about to take over. Then it encourages him, gives him strength and that little sparkle he think is so necessary to be able to start all over again.

He found in an early phase that dopamine was one among about 300 signal substances in our brains. To his big surprise he then found out that the other substances were mostly working as if there were no problem at all.

He thought; why on earth don’t we take that into consideration before we decide that all parts and functions of our body as well as our mind are packed in the same wrapping and looked upon as sick and unhealthy! He decided to turn that thinking upside down!

He started with the positive fact that he had a wonderful body and a free and creative mind. To be at the helm of his own vessel sailing on the ocean of life was something he had been fighting so hard to achieve.

But after beeing diagnosed with Parkinson´s, there were suddenly a bunch of people who seemed to want to take that away from him.

There were some doctors, his employer, the insurance people and the authorities who have the power to decide whether you are healthy or not, if you can work or not, if you shall go on working or if you better retire!

Leif fled them all by starting his own business. He worked like a madman to be independent of the dark forces! It was the toughest decision he ever had taken and it meant to him that he had to work harder than he ever had done before. The next three years he registered 80 hours a week all year around.

His entrepreneurial era also taught him he had no time to be sick – so he stayed healthy.

He learned that ”I myself can influence the dopamine system”. He had fewer disturbances in his body when on customer assignments than in other situations.

He also states ”I taught myself to take full responsibility for my situation, saying yes to the possibilities. And to stop blaming others, and this actually made me grow up”.

”I just couldn't stop reading ...”
I just couldn't stop reading this wonderful book until I came to the end. It is a truly remarkable book. It looks at life as a "do it yourself" project. It is a book for winners and a book to be used in the "Mental Toughness Training" course.
